So Doug Demuro bought a Ford GT. Tavarish keeps buying and rebuilding the cheapest exotics on the planet. Hoovie keeps.. well... losing money on his cars.
Dozens of other Youtubers show off their shiny new go-fast toys, and sometimes they even buy/build
big, climate-controlled, high-ceiling, lift-equipped garages. Well, they got
nothing
on this guy.
He bought an entire goddamn race track and has dubbed it:
!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
This is not even the stuff dreams are made of; this is ambition
beyond
most enthusiasts’ wildest dreams. Unreal. So jelly.

Clee tus and crew are great. They have a blast, make a great product and all genuinely seem like good dudes. I hope they don't drift from the fasterproms guys with this move, but they have a good start on their channel as well. I couldn't be happier for them and where they're heading. Save all the racetracks should be a life model.

I’d like to think that I would do the same thing if I had the money, but the annual taxes on that property amount to $14.5 grand.
It also last sold for $500k in 2018 and I’m not sure I could spend that much on that track.
I will say that I can actually find him half tolerable. The persona is a little annoying, but he seems half decent.
Some of his fans are really annoying though. It was interesting to see how distraught his fans became when he lost to red demon. A lot of them seem somewhat ignorant about drag racing and some are even reluctant to learn. But that's YouTube comments for you.

I really hope he knows what he’s getting into here, and can continue to maintain it and keep it open.

Yeah this is by far the coolest thing any auto Youtuber has done. Fixer upper car projects are one thing, he got a fixer upper race track.
And he may have fixed the biggest problem with running a racetrack. The income.
Normally you only make money if you host events, and you first have to spend lots of money on promotion. He’s got tones of promotion through Youtube along with a huge fan base who will travel to come see his events. And he can provide a place for other YouTube’s to come, which will he’ll build his brand even more.
I do hope he builds a RallyX track on the property if that’s possible

I do as well. The concept seems fun and enthusiast focused, but it’s really hard to tell if it can be profitable.
S ure, it could mean more views, but can you attribute those views to the track and what are they worth in contrast to the up front investment cost and the considerable maintenance and tax costs.

He has a law degree so I’m sure he has a handle on what it costs. He is also really good friends with the owner of the drag strip next door so it’s probably not just him buying the track. His endgame is not YouTube views but more of his live events.

If I had the money I’d buy land, and a backhoe, and build a DIY RallyX track.

So I’m sure that he understands the cost. I’m sure they spelled out everything in complete detail when they closed.
But I’m not talking about just the cost. I’m talking about profitability. This isn’t a successful business with a proven revenue stream. This is a run down facility.
Speaking of degrees, I have an MBA and close to a dozen years in FP&A focusing on ROI, revenue forecasting, and profitability proform as and I wouldn’t even begin to know where to start with a business like this.
I hope he hired good consultants before diving into this because businesses like these can completely ruin someone.
I genuinely hope he did his research and I’m sure he probably did. Good luck to him!

Based on the size of his cleetus and cars events, I’m guessing he’ll generate a decent amount of revenue by hosting at his own facility. Not saying that’ll cover the whole year, but I’m guessing this has been in the works for a while and that he’s done the math on his finances, especially since he recently purchased a house.
He also has some pretty good sponsors on board for at least the first year, including Holley and Nitto and a couple others. That should inject some cash flow.

That’s exactly what I thought. His events are so large that he would likely want his own venue to have them at. Plus, he can get other youtubers there to host other events and collab. He probably made half the taxes just in that video.
Then there’s the sponsors who would want to be in every video at the track. Charging for events. And just filming there in general. No need to rent out a track for their shenanigans, seems like a great business move if bought for the right price.

I’ m sure he can make money, but it likely would have been more wise to rent than to own.
I’ m not saying this is going to ruin him. And it is honestly something I wish I could do. But it also likely wasn’t the smartest financial move.
H ere’s hoping it all works out.
